RE: Recommendation of Alyssa Pfluger

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter to express my general recommendation and support for Alyssa Pfluger. She is an excellent student who is both thoughtful and dedicated to her scholarship.

I have had Alyssa in a number of courses, including COMM 244 (Persuasion and Advocacy) and COMM 301 (Comm Law and Ethics). She has excelled in these courses and earned grades in the top percentiles. She is consistently an active participant in classroom discussion, offering insightful comments and analysis. She demonstrates excellent critical thinking skills and expresses herself well, both orally and in writing. She is conscientious, well-prepared, and clearly motivated and driven to succeed.

Alyssa also worked as an Opinion Writer at The Torch, Valparaiso University’s student newspaper, at the times I served as its Faculty Advisor. She exhibited the same traits of thoughtful analysis and clear written expression in this capacity as she has in her classroom enterprises. Apart from her work at The Torch, I have not had the opportunity to work with Alyssa a great deal outside of the classroom. However, I understand that she is involved in a variety of other extracurricular activities, including serving as an investigator for the University’s Honor Council. This is a very important position which requires dedication and a serious mind, as the Council ultimately makes determinations regarding allegations of academic dishonesty throughout the University.

From my classroom and other observations, I would expect that Alyssa will bring the same dedication and skills she does to her academics to other endeavors she might decide to pursue. If I can answer any additional questions about Alyssa, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

/s/ Jason J. Paupore
