To Whom It May Concern:

Please take note that I am writing this letter as a statement of support and recommendation on behalf of the above-referenced individual.

Alyssa was a student of mine during the Spring semester of 2013. I am an Associate Professor of Business Law and Sustainability in Business within the College of Business (CoB) at Valparaiso University and am a practicing attorney in the State of Indiana. I have been litigating cases with a primary focus in the business field for a period exceeding 30 years. I instruct two sections of “The Legal Environment of Business” at the V.U. CoB, an upper-level business law class in our MBA program, and am the editor of the Journal of Values-Based Leadership (www.valuesbasedleadershipjournal.com). I attempt to incorporate current legal procedure and evolving case law into the course curriculum. The course is very demanding in that the text covers basically the essentials of legal theory and practice taught with more particularity, of course, in the full, three-year law school graduate curriculum. Additionally, out-of-classroom assignments are mandatory, which include viewing and summarizing live courtroom proceedings as well as conducting research in business ethics.

With over 100 students during the Spring semester of 2013, Alyssa stood out as a solid top academic student earning an “A” in my class. Additionally, she never failed to show up to class prepared, pleasant, and ready to interject appropriate commentary during the course of our classroom discussions.

I understand that Alyssa is an Honors program student. She will be undertaking Honor Council program activities in the Fall and has a notable record of service-learning opportunities and environmentally-conscious pursuits. She “walks the talk” of the triple-business line business acclimation, giving specific attention to environmental stewardship and social responsibility as well as to the economic performance of the institution. She devotes much of her time to community and social organizations. Her other notable accomplishments include work experience that encompasses all of the major duties of successfully operating a business. Alyssa has truly balanced scholastic, fiscal, and community pursuits with parity and success. My natural inclination has been to steer her into the field of law. With her scholastic aptitude and wonderful personality, I am sure she would be an asset to any program or field of employment she enters.

Please feel free to contact me if you have additional questions.
Very truly yours,
Elizabeth Gingerich
